AFTER CARE
YOUR NEW TATTOO IS AN OPEN WOUND AND MUST BE PROPERLY CARED FOR TO PREVENT INFECTION AND/OR DAMAGE.
Initial Bandaging: Keep your new tattoo bandaged according to your artist's recommendation.
First Wash: Before removing the bandage, wash your hands thoroughly. Clean your tattoo with warm water and an unscented anti-bacterial soap. Use your hand and cleanse the area until it no longer feels slimy or glazed.
Drying: Gently pat your tattoo dry; do not rub. Allow it to air dry for at least 10 minutes.
Ointment Application: Apply a very light coat of the ointment your artist recommended. Follow this cleaning and application process 3-5 times per day. REMEMBER: Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo (for both cleaning and ointment application).
Switching to Lotion: After 3 days, discontinue using the ointment and switch to an unscented lotion or cream. Clean your tattoo before applying lotion. Apply lotion 3-5 times daily, or more as needed.
Repeat this care routine until your tattoo is no longer dry or shiny.
REMINDERS:
Avoid direct sunlight exposure for 2 weeks or until your tattoo is fully healed.
Refrain from picking or scratching your tattoo to prevent skin damage and protect the design. If it itches, apply lotion or cream.
Do not soak your tattoo in water for at least two weeks or until it is healed. * If you exercise, use cleaning wipes on equipment prior to use to maintain hygiene, as gyms can introduce contaminants. Clean your tattoo as needed.
Once healed, preserve your tattoo by applying SPF when exposed to the sun for extended periods, as UV rays can fade the ink.
Please Note: If you experience any issues during the healing process, contact your artist. If problems persist or an allergic reaction is suspected, seek advice from your physician or urgent care of choice.
